Lola Hurt, 55, And Melony Johnson, 41, Remembered After Being Found Dead At A Sumter County Home On Pudding Swamp Road
Lola Hurt, 55, and Melony Johnson, 41, were found dead on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at a home on Pudding Swamp Road in Sumter County, South Carolina.
Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker identified Hurt and Johnson, while local authorities opened an investigation into the apparent double homicide.
Investigators said multiple persons of interest had been identified, the home showed no signs of forced entry, and there was no known wider threat to the community.
Sumter County Chief Deputy Hampton Gardner said investigators believe the incident happened sometime between August 29 and August 30, 2026.
Autopsies for Hurt and Johnson were scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, as loved ones and the Sumter County community grieve the loss of two closely connected lives.
