Paul Lawson, 48, of Harbeson, Delaware, Remembered After September 1 Motorcycle Crash on Coastal Highway in Lewes
Paul Lawson, 48, of Harbeson, Delaware, died after a motorcycle crash on Coastal Highway near Bay Crossing Boulevard in Lewes on September 1, 2026.
Delaware State Police responded at approximately 6:10 p.m. after a Kia Sorento moved into a designated turn lane as Lawson traveled southbound in the far-left lane on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Investigators reported that the Kia attempted a U-turn and entered the motorcycle’s path, and the crash threw Lawson from the motorcycle.
Medical personnel transported Lawson to a nearby hospital, where Lawson later died from injuries.
The 77-year-old Kia driver from New Berlin, Pennsylvania, and two passengers inside the vehicle did not report injuries.
Authorities closed Coastal Highway for approximately three hours while the Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit documented the scene and examined the vehicles.
Family, friends, and community members now remember Lawson’s life, presence, and lasting place in the hearts of those who knew and loved Lawson.
