Tanner Bowen Of Childersburg, Alabama, Former Soldier, Dies At 23 Four Years After June 25, 2022 Road Crash

Tanner Bowen, of Childersburg, Alabama, died at 23 after a long medical struggle that began with a June 25, 2022, pickup truck crash on Coleman Bridge Road.

Tanner had returned home to surprise family after completing Army camp when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree during a short evening drive.

The crash also claimed Tanner's 17-year-old brother, Preston, at the scene, while emergency crews took Tanner to a Birmingham hospital with a traumatic brain injury.

Over the next four years, Tanner received care at specialized rehabilitation centers, including the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, and faced repeated medical setbacks, including pneumonia.

Family members Melissa, Robert, Colin, and Mackenzie remained close as Tanner continued through a difficult journey marked by care, hope, and devotion.

Friends and neighbors later gathered at Calvary Baptist Church to say goodbye and honor Tanner's life, service, and lasting place in the community.
