John Irvin Unger, Beloved Wabash Builder And Family-Centered Community Member, Dies Peacefully At Home At 66

John Irvin Unger died peacefully at home in Wabash, Indiana, early Monday, August 31, 2026, at 4:30 a.m., at age 66.

Born in Wabash on January 12, 1960, John graduated from Southwood High School in 1979 and built a life rooted in steady work, family devotion, and care for the outdoors.

John worked with family at Mill Creek Stone & Gravel Corp. until 1991, later helped start Power-Wash, Inc., and also worked with Dave’s Excavating, Agro-Chem, and the Operators Union.

In July 2001, John launched 2 Guys Workin’ LLC, where skill, patience, and pride shaped custom kitchens, bathrooms, and home projects for returning customers.

John shared a close life with spouse Jane DeLauter Unger, renovated their home together, tended a backyard garden, and prepared food for winter.

John loved grandchildren, children, fishing trips, wild mushrooms, and time in the woods, which brought peace and purpose.

Funeral services will take place at McDonald Funeral Home in Wabash, with burial at Friends Cemetery and memorial donations directed to the Noble Township Volunteer Fire Department.
