Antonio Portillo, 66, Remembered After Fatal Fort Bend County Highway 90 Crash Near FM 1952
Antonio Portillo, a 66-year-old truck driver from Sealy, Texas, died Tuesday morning, September 1, 2026, after a roadway crash on U.S. Highway 90 in Fort Bend County near FM 1952 and Tavener Road.
Portillo was traveling east in a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer when a 2025 Honda sedan crossed the center line from the opposite direction and entered the truck’s path.
The impact caused the Freightliner to overturn off the road, and emergency responders from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety arrived at the scene.
The Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced Portillo deceased at the scene.
The Honda carried a 16-year-old driver and a 10-year-old passenger from East Bernard, and both went to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for treatment.
State troopers continue to review why the sedan left its lane.
Friends and fellow drivers remembered Portillo as dependable, hardworking, and committed to honest work.
